How good it is
to sing praises to our God;
for he is gracious,
and a song of praise is fitting.

Psalm 147

February 9, 2003

Gathering in Christ's name

Call to worship based on Psalm 147

Leader: Praise the LORD! How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.

ALL: Praise the LORD! How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.

Leader: The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of
Israel. He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

ALL: Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is
beyond measure. Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on the lyre.

Leader: The LORD lifts up the downtrodden; he casts the wicked to the
ground. He covers the heavens with clouds, prepares rain for the earth, makes grass grow on the hills. He gives to the animals their food, and to the young ravens when they cry. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the speed of a runner; but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Praise the LORD!

ALL: the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love. Praise the LORD!

Love Inc. Needs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*people willing to dust and vacuum, even once a month
*People to transport an elderly person to the store and help her with her
shopping
*People willing to get an elderly person's shopping list, do the shopping
when they shop for their own family, and deliver the groceries. Weekly,
twice a month, or even monthly opportunities are out there!
*And we need people willing to call an elderly person once a week just to
say hello and to chat with him or her.
Prayers and Praises
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Phil 4:6)
VMBM: Jesse Bergey excitedly reports that December was the first time that Maranatha School for the Deaf in Jamaica was able to use some of the vegetables from his garden for the school lunch. The cook and teachers were very excited to see Jesse bringing the callaloo and carrots that he harvested.
Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Mission Network
workers Amanda and Gamaliel Falla as they nurture a new church in Barranquilla, Colombia, and support leadership development in two other North Coast communities. Pray
