The quilt that keeps on giving
Dear Charlottesville Mennonite Church Members and Friends,
In response to our fundraising letter for the church mission house, Bryant and Claire Haynes, former members of CMC for many years, have donated a quilt that was made by the women of Charlottesville Mennonite Church in 1994. The quilt was auctioned at the MCC Relief sale in September of 1994 and purchased by Bryant and Claire. It measures approximately 119 inches by 90 inches, fits a queen sized bed and is in excellent condition.
Thank you to all who bid on the quilt. Congratulations to Elizabeth Alderfer on the highest bid. All proceeds that are received from the sale will go toward supplies to complete the CMC's church house renovation.
After due process in the congregation, made more interesting and affordable through a burst pipe in the attic of that house, we now own the house.
After listening to the congregation, the vision committee made the recommendation to Administrative council to use the house for use with VMM's tranSend program. The tranSend volunteers will deepen and expand the ministry cycles of receiving, nurturing/mentoring and sending that we as a church are already engaged in. This recommendation was affirmed by the Administrative council in November 2016.
