In the Beginning
When God Created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless void
and darkness covered the face of the deep,
while a wind swept over the face of the waters.

Gathering in Christ's name

Call to worship Psalm 29

Leader: Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name;
worship the LORD in holy splendor.

People: God thunders across the waters, brilliant,
his voice and his face, streaming brightness -
God, across the flood waters
Leader: God's is thunder powerful; God's thunder is majestic.
God's thunder smashes cedars,
God topples the northern cedars.

People: The mountain ranges skip like spring colts,
the high ridges jump like wild kid goats.
God's thunder spits fire. God thunders, the wilderness quakes; he makes the desert of Kadesh shake.
Leader: God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing - A wild
dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches.
We fall to our knees - we call out,

People: "GLORY!"-
Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which
his power flows, from which he rules the world.
Leader: God makes his people strong.
God gives his people peace.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: In December, the Mennonite church in Goricaj, near Lushnje, Albania, began to hold a second church service in the neighboring village of Kemishtaj. The missionaries were happy that on the first Sunday, five men, one woman, and five teens came in spite of the rain and very cold weather. Some of the people who attend the other service were present as well.

Mennonite Mission Network: Remember the Samogho people in the small village of Saraba where Donna and Loren Entz have ministered for 15 years in Burkina Faso. Pray that God would work through the Samogho language audio cassettes that contain scripture and scripture music.
