Into a room locked against
fear and doubt,
Jesus enters and breathes
peace upon the disciples.
When we are overcome with fear and doubt,
love dares to enter our lives
and lets us see and touch Jesus' wounds
so we can believe and receive peace.

Gathering in Christ's name

Call to worship

Leader: How good and pleasant it is to gather
in the presence of the risen Christ!

People: Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Leader: As we worship, sing and pray,
People: may the blessings of unity run over our faces
like precious oil;
Leader: As we face our fears and doubts,
People: May the blessing of peace fall upon us
like dew on the mountains.

Ladies! Please join us on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 for a Ladies Tea. Bring your daughter(s), mother, mother-in-laws, and/or friends and sign-up by Sunday, May 4.

Love Inc is looking for people to move donated furniture from UVA dorms on May 19-22, 5-9pm each. Can we get a group together to join this effort? Let Jean Shumate know if you are able.

You will find the retreat brochures in your mailboxes. If you do not have a mailbox there are extra brochures by the mailboxes or ask Libby or Maren for a copy. Please return the forms to Libby by May 4. Everyone attending Charlottesville Mennonite Church is welcome; it is fun and it is free.

The church yard sale is coming up. You may drop off your items at the church anytime after the worship service on Sunday, April 27. If you are able to help sort and set up on Wednesday or Thursday, April 30-31, please contact Maren. As a new feature this year we will gather on Friday evening for snacks, pricing of items and the "pre-sale sale" (also called "let's move it from my house to your house" church swapping).

The Fifth Annual Hymn Sing for Peace in Washington, DC will take place this year on May 3, 2003. We will meet and sing on the Reflecting Pool steps, in front of the Lincoln Memorial. This year, we will be graced with a prelude from the Eastern Mennonite High School Choir between 1:00 and 2:00 PM. Then, all will gather to sing from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: In 1980, the Italian Mennonite Church (IMC) joined with
other evangelical churches to rebuild houses after an earthquake in central Italy. VMBM Regional Director Willard Eberly and IMC President Francesco Picone recently participated in the 20th
anniversary celebration of a church that was planted in the town of Volturara at that time.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Mission Network educator Alan Kreider as he meets this week with Paulus Widjaja and Judy Zimmerman Herr in Indonesia. They will translate the peace statements of many national Mennonite churches into a peace statement for the Assembly of the Mennonite World Conference in Africa, August 11-17.

Pray for Love Inc. as they continue to rebuild their services to those in need in the community after a challenging fall and winter. Listen to God to see how we can be part of these efforts.

Let us not cease to pray for Peace; let us pray for safety and wisdom for all those involved in Iraq.
