Into a circle of fearful,
confused disciples,
Jesus comes again
to offer peace, joy and a new way
of understanding the Scriptures.

When we struggle
with continuing doubt, fear and distress,
love patiently returns
and dares to commission those
who doubt to be his witnesses.

Gathering in Christ's name

Call to worship

Leader: Come gather before the Lord, for here there is room.
Men: Here there is room for those who have seen
God's power raise Jesus from the dead.
Women: Here there is room even for those who doubt
God's power and do not understand God's ways.
All: Here there is room for us all to worship the Lord,
our God. May God's face shine upon us;
May God's gladness fill our hearts!

Love Inc is looking for people to move donated furniture from UVA dorms on May 19-22, 5-9pm each. Can we get a group together to join this effort? Let Jean Shumate know if you are able.

Maren took 24 MCC health and school kits over to Harrisonburg. Thank you all who participated. In your mail boxes you will find flyers for MCC relief kits if you like to continue to help with current needs for MCC.

VMRC Auxiliary members: Remember the annual meeting on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 at Detwiler Auditorium [at VMRC]. Please come….bring a friend….hear a special tribute to volunteers by Hannah Lapp…..refreshments served.

The church retreat registrations are due today. If you have not handed them in to Libby Showalter, please do so today! If you have questions please contact Libby or Maren. All regular CMC attendees are welcome; it is fun and it is free.

Thank you for all your help with the yard sale: the items contributed, sorting, pricing, selling and buying. The proceeds will go to the youth conference in Atlanta.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Marcia Lehman spent a couple hours with her neighbors in Bari, Italy, one day, and was able to share the gospel with them. Afterwards her neighbors prayed and asked Jesus to help them as they were facing some difficult situations. They asked Marcia, "Why has no one ever shared the message of Jesus Christ so clearly with us before?"

Mennonite Mission Network: Praise God that Mission Network worker Anne Garber Kompaoré, Burkina Faso, has the opportunity
to be an exegetical consultant for the translation of the Old Testament in the Mooré (mor-ay) language. Pray for wisdom in making corrections on the drafts of Genesis and Ruth.

Pray for Love Inc. as they continue to rebuild their services to those in need in the community after a challenging fall and winter. Listen to God to see how we can be part of these efforts. Pray that they will find enough people for the furniture moving days May 19-22.

Let us pray for peace with justice in Iraq, Afghanistan, Columbia, and other countries in turmoil.
