The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.

There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

Note the date for the next fellowship meal and vision meeting will be July 13, 2003. We hope you can all join us that day. If not, please share your thoughts and dreams with us via email or phone call.

The Pastors will be at Mennonite Church USA Assembly in Atlanta, July 3-8, 2003. In case of an emergency, please contact a member of the pastoral care team: Lois Alderfer, Mel Janzen and Dottie Scott.

Former President Jimmy Carter has confirmed his invitation to speak to the Mennonite Church USA Assembly in Atlanta. Carter will speak at the opening worship service for youth and adults on Thursday evening, July 3. Carter's faith and commitment to peace and social justice will be themes in his message. He will focus on the growing chasm between the rich and the poor, the need for integrating our faith with our daily life and welcoming everyone to the table.

Even if you're not in Atlanta, you can keep abreast of activities at Atlanta 2003 by checking the Mennonite Church USA website (MennoniteUSA.org) daily, July 3-8. Look for photos, news updates, and a link to mPress, the daily newspaper. Look for "News from Atlanta" in the section headings. Y'all come to the website!

Eastern Mennonite Seminary has launched a new summer program called LEAP (Learning Exploring and Participating) as a means for high school aged students to explore ministry and/or theological study as a vocation. This August, almost fifty participants and thirteen leaders will be training together at Eastern Mennonite Seminary and then traveling to Mennonite World Conference and the Global Youth Summit in Zimbabwe. Please pray for this new program as participants and leaders prepare for their assignment. For more information, visit the LEAP website at leap.emu.edu.

Crest Hill Community Church in Wardensville, WV, is hoping to paint their sanctuary and clean the outside of the church building this summer. If you are interested in helping, please contact Ken Horst, director of Partners in Mission at VMBM, at 540-434-9727 or ken.horst@vmbm.org.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Phil and Marcia Lehman write from Italy, "Pray for our friends who are moving closer and closer to a decision for Jesus Christ. Pray that their eyes would be opened to the truth, and that they may have the courage to be baptized. This decision is often very difficult because it can lead to rejection by family members."

Mennonite Mission Network: Mary Bess Hayward, Mennonite Mission Network mission associate, asks prayer for a team of Christian English teachers who will be going to Kramatorsk, Ukraine, to conduct a Summer English Institute in July. Ask God to prepare the hearts of Ukrainians who attend and for follow-up Bible studies with them.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Foodbank and the Salvation Army.

Please keep the Charlottesville Mennonite Church Leadership 2003-2004 in your prayers.
