Tired of the rain? Looking for something fun to do? The church will go tubing down the James river on July 12. There is a campground there for anyone interested to spend Friday night. For more information, please contact the Alderfers.

In the foyer is a sign up sheet for the Women's retreat in Williamsburg in September. Please remember to share your gifts in music or flower arrangements this summer. Sign up sheets are hanging in the foyer.

This last Saturday at the Virginia Mennonite Conference delegate assembly in Harrisonburg, Mel Janzen from our congregation was elected to serve on the Health and Mutual Care Commission of Virginia Mennonite Conference.

Note the date for the next fellowship meal and vision meeting will be July 13, 2003. We hope you can all join us that day. If not, please share your thoughts and dreams with us via email or phone call.

Women's Bible Study on Romans will be discontinued over the summer and will pick up again on Wednesdays beginning September 3, 2003. In the meantime there will be a women's bible study meeting over the summer on Mondays at 10 am beginning June 16 at the parsonage, study subject will be chosen that day also.

A Recovery of Hope session will be held at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church Sunday, July 20, 1:30-3:30 p.m., with two couples presenting their personal stories of marital healing, followed by a consultation with a Family Life Resource counselor. Cost is $35 per couple. Call 434-8450 to register.

Another Positive Parenting Class will begin July 22 and continue six Tuesdays at 7-8:30 p.m. The class is led by Harvey Yoder of the Family Life Resource Center and meets at the Blessed Sacrament Church on the corner of Wolfe and Main Streets in Harrisonburg. Cost is $35 per person plus $13 for the text, Common Sense Parenting. Child care is available at the church by arrangement. For more information or to register call 434-8450.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Willy and Barb Keener, who served in Albania with Eastern Mennonite Missions for five years, completed their service last month. The role of church leadership has been passed on to Dan and Mary Hess. Steve Campbell will begin a one-year term in Albania this summer, teaching the Hess children and assisting in various church ministries.

Mennonite Mission Network: Today is the commissioning service for a new DEO (Discipleship, Encounter and Outreach) team. As team members begin two months of biblical and theological teaching, pray that they may grow in self-awareness and a deeper faith commitment.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Foodbank and the Salvation Army.
