You were shaped for serving God

February 8, 2004
Week Five of Purpose

Gathering in Christ's name

Call to worship

All: This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Leader: Again today we come together to worship -
the God of creation, of salvation, of time and eternity.
The God of all peoples, of all nations,
of all conditions of people everywhere.

People: Praise the Lord. All that is within me, praise God's holy name.
Leader: Praise the Lord and remember all his kindness:
in forgiving our sins; in curing our diseases;
in saving us from destruction; in surrounding us with love.

People: The Lord is full of mercy and compassion.
The Lord is slow to anger and willing to give us gifts of love. Praise the Lord! Oh, praise the Lord, all that is within me.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: A young man who lives near Centro Koinonia in Bari, Italy,
has attended almost every event or service at the church since November. He seems to understand that he will need to make a decision about whether to follow Christ, and he is beginning to
struggle with which road he will choose.

The Doulos Ship, the largest floating library and bookstore in the
world, visited the port in Durres, Albania, last month. The youth
at the Mennonite church in Lezhe were each encouraged to invite
one un-churched friend along to visit the ship, participate in the
special activities, and to hear the gospel.

Mennonite Mission Network: Mennonite Mission Network mission associates C. Paul and Hildi Amstutz ask prayer for the Missions Congress and Pastors' Seminar on Missions to be held Feb. 12-15 and 19-21 for the wider church community throughout Paraguay. Pray that hearts may be stirred to spread the Word across cultural boundaries.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

Pray for the 40 day spiritual journey as part of our church's vision process:

  1. Our selves, that we all will be drawn closer to God and each other.
  2. Our church, relationships within our church, our vision as a church; our facility needs
  3. Our community and our mission of witness and service
