Announcements

A Forum on Sexuality will be held on Thursday, June 12, 8:45-10:00 p.m. in the JMU College Center ballroom (following the worship service at the Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly). The roundtable discussion groups will be facilitated by Steve Carpenter.

The date for next year's All Church Retreat at Camp Bethel has been set for June 4-6, 2004. It's never to early to mark your calendar for this time of growing closer to God and one another through worship, fun and fellowship.

Women's Bible Study on Romans will be discontinued over the summer and will pick up again on Wednesdays beginning September 3, 2003. In the meantime there will be a women's bible study meeting over the summer on Mondays at 10 am beginning June 16 at the parsonage, study subject will be chosen that day also.

The pastors will be attending Virginia Mennonite Conference assembly in Harrisonburg on June 12-14, 2003.

Please note the new Summer SS schedule: During the months of June through August the children will meet in the preschool SS room for Veggietown adventures and the youth will meet with the adults in the sanctuary studying the builder.

Note the date for the next fellowship meal and vision meeting will be July 13, 2003. We hope you can all join us that day.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Dolores Beiler has been instrumental in beginning a
Women's Fellowship Group at Ridge Mennonite Church in Jamaica. This continues the ministry Kathy Moyer began when she led a women's Bible study there. The women missed the times of fellowship after the Bible study was opened to everyone, so the women are tentatively planning to meet every other week.

The church planting team in Bari, Italy, has many activities planned for this summer. A short-term team from the U.S. will join them for several weeks this month for evangelism, teaching, and prayer. A Bible school for children will be held in July and a family camp is scheduled for August. All of these will focus on evangelism and building friendships.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Sisay Desalegn, Mennonite Mission Network urban ministry director in Seattle, as he teaches at Meserete Kristos College in Addis Abba, Ethiopia, in June and July. Pray that students who come will receive the skills and understanding to be effective leaders in the church.

Mennonite Mission Network worker Mike Sherrill teaches Intercultural Communication to a class of 40 students at Hokusei Christian University in Sapporo, Japan. Pray that he will have opportunities to share the peace and joy of Christ with these students who are making important decisions at this time in their lives.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Foodbank and the Salvation Army.
