Women's Bible Study will return soon. Beginning on September 3 we will meet again on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am to continue our study of Paul's letter to the church in Rome. We will be studying Romans 9.

The Mom's group is switching to Tuesday mornings beginning in September. Look for further upcoming details.

August 24 will be our back to School day which we celebrate with a picnic at Walnut Creek Park at 12:30 pm. Also that day we will host a concert by Jon Nafziger and Brad Yoder at 7 pm at the church.

Come to the Church of the Brethren, 1225 Rio Road East, on Friday, August 15 to enjoy some Pizza while setting up the rooms for the Vacation Bible School this year. Please let Maren know by August 13 if you are planning to come so we know how much Pizza to order.

Please help with the following VOLUNTEER opportunities for Summer Bible Class "shepherds" to lead classes activities; Two for preschool and one each for K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8; Music leaders Monday & Thursday; a session leader for all days (could be shared by several people. We also need the following specific activities leaders; Stars and Promises (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday; Isaac's Toys (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday); From Barren to Fruitful (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). We need several people to provide refreshments for the closing service at VBS on Thursday, Aug. 21. If you are willing to help out, please email or call Jeannine.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Pray for Richard and Margaret Keeler as they returned to Trinidad last week. Their sharing with churches enlightened many people about the work of the Holy Spirit in the Mennonite churches in Trinidad.

Pray for the Mennonite Congregational Resource Center and their director Kathy Weaver Wenger who met last week to choose a chairperson and develop plans for the center. Pray also for MCRC Director Kathy Weaver Wenger.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for God's spirit to empower participants at Mennonite World Conference in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Aug. 11-17. May the fellowship with brothers and sisters from around the globe produce a spirit of oneness in God's mission.

Global Urban Forum, sponsored by Mission Network and Center for Anabaptist Leadership, will be held during Mennonite World Conference in Zimbabwe. Pray that urban mission workers will be brought together to create global support networks for ministry in urban settings.

The Global Anabaptist Mission Consultation is held in conjunction with Mennonite World Conference at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Pray that Mennonite Mission Network and global partners can share their vision and move toward a new paradigm in global mission relationships.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Foodbank and the Salvation Army.
