O Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

How many are your works, O Lord!
In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.

Announcements

Please note that the vision meeting has been changed to November 2 on Covenant Sunday and that Mission Sunday is November 23. We had to switch in order to not have 3 fellowship meals in 4 weeks.

Opportunity for Giving: Please continue to keep the mission of CMC in your thoughts and prayers as you plan for year-end charitable contributions.

Please check out the opportunities to share your musical talents with us during the pre-service or offertory music by contacting Maren.

Dr. Tony Campolo will speak to the Harrisonburg District Mennonite Churches Wednesday, December 3 at 7:00pm at the Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. Dr. Campolo is an inspiring and frequent speaker at Mennonite Church youth assemblies. Tony has been asked to speak on the topic of the role of comfortable suburban Christians in a time when radical Christian vision is needed for needy hurting people and communities in our country and the world. Plan to attend this event to further develop our Mennonite mission identity.

Please be in prayer for Roy Hange as he participates in the consultation on the Church and Islam at Eastern Mennonite University from October 23-26. Roy will be leading a seminar and co-leading the communion at the closing service on Sunday.

This Sunday we continue a worship series on reconciliation in the Old Testament, drawing from the following scriptures:

    • 9/7 Genesis 1:1-2:3 - Creation as Reconciliation
    • 9/14 Genesis 32:3-28 33:1-10 - Jacob and Esau' Struggle
    • 9/28 Gen. 37:12-28; 45:1-11,14 Joseph Saves his Brothers
    • 10/5 II Kings 5:1-19a 8:7-12 - Elisha as a Healing Prophet
    • 10/12 II Kings 6: 8-23 - Elisha as a Reconciling Prophet
  • 10/19 II Chronicles 28:8-15;29:6-11;30:1-5;13-27 Hezekiah's Feast
    • 10/ 26 Jonah 3&4 - Jonah the Reluctant Reconciler
    • 11/ 16 Job 42 - Job's Reconciliation

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Steve Campbell is teaching Dan & Mary Hess' children in Albania during this school year. Steve is thankful that God has provided a room for their school to take place--right across the road from the Hess family's house. Steve is enjoying teaching and getting to know Heather, Alecia, and Jyrell Hess.

Mennonite Mission Network: Mission worker Betty Hochstetler is traveling Oct. 22-Nov. 17 to all five regions of the Mennonite church in Brazil, giving workshops to promote the Portuguese version of Jubilee Sunday school materials, methods and music. Pray for her health and safety during this time.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Foodbank and the Salvation Army.

Please pray for the board and staff at Love INC as the ministry adjusts to changes in staff: Kim Washington, who took over as the Clearinghouse Coordinator, the search committee as the interview candidates to fill the Executive Director's position.
